Mothers Day Card

mothersday

I didn’t set out to get into handmade cards but as I started gathering crafting supplies that interested me it was obvious I could go in different directions with them.

I wanted to give my mother the first card I made and Mothers Day was perfect timing. I didn’t have colored card stock or patterned papers yet so I used what I had on hand which was white cover stock and also printed my own patterned paper using the cover stock. This gave me the chance to use my new toys; a  lace edger paper punch and Sizzix Bigshot embossing and diecut machine to emboss a layer to fancy things up.
I didn’t have a diecut for the leaves or  flowers so I hand cut and rolled them. I was happy with the results. I love the texture and dimension of layered handmade cards.

box I couldn’t put this card in an envelope so I made a box using the white cover stock and secured it with a pretty metalic gold elastic band with bow I had saved knowing I’d use it for something.
